Day Twenty-Seven Total: 6,798 words

It's like I'm not even trying! =)

Day Twenty Total: 6,695 words

Let's ignore the fact that I haven't written anything in ten days. I don't really believe it myself, but there you go. I'm hoping to be better from now until the end of the month, but I'm starting to think it's a lost cause and that I should give up.

I realise this is entirely the wrong attitude to have and that if I keep thinking like this I'm never going to manage. I guess I'm just letting real life get in the way of writing. I can't seem to get into the headspace. I haven't even gotten to the point where I hate my story yet.

I think I'm going to have to write on my birthday this year, too, and I tend to not do that. It sucks. But, I have first world problems, so I guess I need to focus on the fact that I still have the means and the opportunity to participate in this challenge... and hey, I should do this for all the people who can't. Nah, that sounds pretentious, over-dramatic and egocentric.

Anyway, at least I wrote something today. =)

Day Nine Total: 6,460 words

Writing these words was like paying lip service. Nothing really happened.

Thursday, 8 November 2012

Day Eight Total: 6,325 words

All those words were written in the last hour. And I'm still behind and according to the stats I'm not going to finish this novel until January. Yay!

Day Seven Total: 5,073 words

Well, at least I finally passed 5,000 words. Always look on the bright side and all that. =)

And the Yarny and official counts synced up again. Hey, that totally means I'm making progress because it's decreasing the word count. =)

Day Six Total: 4,939 words

I wrote for like twenty minutes this morning and then... didn't really pick up the groove. But that's okay. Words are words. (I think that's my new motto.) Plus, I don't yet hate my story.

Fun Fact: The official NaNoWriMo counter is tallying my story up as 1 more word than the Yarny word count. I'm enjoying this while it lasts because as the word count gets higher, the difference gets greater, and usually goes in the opposite direction. I don't know how they define words. It's a complete mystery.

Day Five Total: 3,900 words

So I wrote today. Not much, but words are words.

Monday, 5 November 2012

Day Four Total: 3,504 words

Yup, that's right everybody. Day Four and I already didn't write words. I'm really rocking this year.

Day Three Total: 3,504 words

These are more like leftover day two words. I wrote them all before I went to bed that night.

Day Two Total: 2,847 words

So, I think this might be the first time in my NaNo history that I've ever been behind on the second day. (I'd better check that out. It is, but whatever.) This both worries and amuses me. I can't really get into the writing groove, but I am starting to really enjoy my story. I have the most awesome villain ever even if he has a totally clichéd power. Too bad the foil for the MC's romantic interest is turning out to be a way better fit for my MC. I kind of hate him. I like my hero better (because he's an anti-hero) but I can't make the MC choose him just because I like him better. He has to be the better fit.

Day One Total: 2,064 words

I'm back!

Started writing after midnight with a plot I seemingly thought up in November 2007. Do you remember that far back? I don't. I have no idea what I wrote that year.

Anyway, after waking up, I wasn't so sure about it, so I haven't actually written anything else past that first hour. I know it's because I don't have much of an outline (and that which I do is mostly porn... and I don't really want to write mostly porn for some reason.) so that's what I need to do now. Also, I needed to make it more interesting, so I've totally added in superheroes. There's something missing from my notes from 2007 that explains exactly what was so special about this story in the first place (because all it says is ex-prostitute, one-night stand, pregnancy and a detailed description of the prologue) and so I've decided it's powers. Yup. I think I want to get into the world-building aspect of that, and it gives me a bunch to talk about in 50,000 words, because like I said, I don't want it all to be porn. Plus I wrote about romantic entanglements last year and that was so tiring and I barely scraped 50k. I wanted this year's NaNo to be stupid, clichéd and fun. And easy, but I don't think it's going to be easy. I'm too out of sorts for that.

Day Twenty-Nine Total: 50,025 words

That's right, despite a major lack of blogging I have managed to succeed in actually passing the winner's line on the twenty-ninth day of November. Entirely Write or Die free, might I add. But with Yarny, and that's a pretty cool tool in my book.

I shall refer you to the following graph for all the word counts you missed out on:

It's my lowest count yet, but who really cares? It is a complete story. I didn't just crap out in the middle somewhere. It's not a particularly interesting or coherent or cohesive story and right up until like three hours ago I was absolutely certain that I would never want to read it ever again, but I added a slight twist ending and suddenly the whole thing seemed like it was an okay story. Definitely not my best or most interesting, but decent.

Day Seventeen Total: 23,658 words

Still behind, and yet not too worried. I'm worried about actually trying to get a 5k Friday tomorrow. I can't believe I forgot last Friday. I would have been up a couple thousand more words if I'd remembered. Oh well.

Wednesday, 16 November 2011

Day Sixteen Total: 22,621 words

New goal: don't let this year's blue line cross 2006's blue line. I mean, if I've been similarly behind before, clearly it's possible that I manage to finish up again.

Day Fifteen Total: 21,789

Yet another day when I almost completely forgot to write anything.

Tuesday, 15 November 2011

Day Fourteen Total: 21,584 words

Getting so behind. November is getting away from me.

Monday, 14 November 2011

Day Thirteen Total: 21,195 words

I am officially behind. This isn't working out too well for me. Le sigh.

Sunday, 13 November 2011

Day Twelve Total: 21,095

Don't remember much about what happened yesterday, but I did write some words.

I have to write some more today or I will actually be BEHIND!

Friday, 11 November 2011

Day Eleven Total: 20,352 words

I finally broke 20,000 words!

I wrote more than 1667 words today!

I'm still above the average words per day line!

And all in the hour of 11pm. How awesome am I? Pretty awesome considering I almost forgot to write anything at all today. Firstly it started because Yarny was down for maintenance, and then I just kept forgetting. Good thing I'm backed up on Google Docs.

Also pretty awesome considering how much cheating on my story I've been doing by writing the outlines of other stories today. (Seriously, if I can knock out my next 30k words in the next week I'm going to go for another 50k... because obviously my goals just aren't lofty enough for a plotless novel.)

Day Ten Total: 18,591 words

Slightly better wordcount today. Still just skimming above the 1667 word line. Tomorrow (a.k.a. later today) is a new day and a new chapter in my book. Hopefully a good one.
