Day Thirty Total: 54,258 words FINISHED!!!

Or as close to finished as it will get in the month of November. I just want to start something new. I have beautiful new books that need filling!

Quick Update

I validated my novel in the early minutes of November 25th, just because I could. I probably shouldn't have, because I don't deserve it, but oh well. It was kind of a birthday present to myself.

I'm currently in the process of writing the last scene of my novel hurriedly. I want to finish it before tonight, and especially before the Sims 2 finishes loading. LOL. Of course, that means I should be typing and not blogging.

Day Twenty-Two Total: 52,769 words

I semi-wrote a scene. I don't really like it so I might cut it. I don't think I'll be adding to it, though.

Day Twenty-One Total: 52,572 words

So I finally finished that scene that I've been working on (when I've been working) all week. I also, happily, managed to finish the next scene (which was partially written).

Somewhere along the line I took to skipping around to the more interesting bits while writing my novel and now I have to fill in the blanks before I can call it finished. Hmm...

Day Twenty Total: 51,428 words

I wrote a bit today. I still haven't finished that scene that I was trying to finish on Monday. Maybe I'll just leave it and move on to the next one. I did write the end, and the beginning of it, and it does end abruptly. So it's okay if I do leave it, but I feel like there's more I need to say.

Day Nineteen Total: 51,055 words

I went backwards a bit. I didn't delete any words (or write any) but now I'm going by the official counter rather than by Google Docs'. I think I lost more words last year, so I'm good.

Day Seventeen Total: 51,074 words

So, I didn't achieve my goal today. I got somewhat sidetracked and cheated on my story with a new one... which I would not dare even try to stretch out to 50k. It's a short story. I am cool with that.

Day Sixteen Total: 50,459 words

Why yes, that is the same as yesterday's total. How astute of you!

I was playing with Google SketchUp yesterday, modeling my dad's store-to-be off an incomplete blueprint. I quite like SketchUp, though I don't particularly have many uses for it. It's a nice step up from my previous 3D modeling experience in VRML. Yeah...

Today I hope to actually finish one of the last five or six scenes in my story. If that works out, I should be finished with the story by the end of the week.

Day Fifteen Total: 50,459 words

Today I wrote a little bit. I don't expect to write thousands and thousands until I perhaps get to November 29-30 and realise that my story is not yet finished.

I wrote maybe one sentence every hour for a few hours. I caught up on a lot of TV today instead. Two weeks worth of Spicks and Specks and one episode of the Mentalist.

Day Fourteen Total: 50,394

I think I explained everything earlier. Not as ecstatic as I could be. Oh well.

I will now revert to NaNoWriMo cheerleader to everyone as yet un-green-barred.

So I'm pretty much finished

I know I'm over 50,000 words, but well, I haven't actually checked. I'm worried that when I do I'll just decide (tomorrow) that it was enough to get to 50k and not actually finish the story, which would entirely defeat the purpose.

I will officially check it before I go to bed because well, I was very good about updating the NaNo site every day and I don't want to stop now.

I kind of feel the way I did after I finished my first Script Frenzy. Sort of like, well I knew I could do it, so I just did it. Excited, but not really. Hopefully I'll be really excited when I can download my winner's goodies and also when I see my green bar.

Although, I don't think I would have managed to go this well without the Twitterverse. Or at least, everyone who ever @replied to one of my messages on Twitter. Like seriously. I never would have been able to do it so quickly if I didn't have people achieving similar goals at the same time, or sharing their NaNo stories with me. I always thought that the NaNo forums were enough, but I think there's something strangely more intimate about Twitter (probably because it's a slightly smaller community so you can follow it better and not have to get bogged down in thinking about someone else's plot) despite the fact that they're still complete strangers.

THANK YOU! =)

Day Thirteen Total: 43,246 words

Once again I'm twice as far along with my story as I was at this time last year. How awesome is that? Pretty awesome I'm thinking.

I wrote heaps yesterday mostly thanks to @Heleor who invited me to write to 42k yesterday in a race against another friend of his, which neither of us won, but I went on to write that 42k anyway.

Yesterday was also the most words I'd written in a twenty-four hour period since the start of NaNoWriMo this year. Progress!

I of course, hope to have at least 45k by the end of today, and 50k by the end of the weekend. Easy peasy, right?

Their teacher is Mr Vispi. Why yes, I did steal most of the following names from my Gmail Spam.

Terry Archer
Hilary Cahill
Noreen Kyle (that was two different names that I changed the spelling of an chucked together)
Victor Orr
Jennifer Burgess

Day Twelve Total: 35,123 words

I wrote a fair bit yesterday... and by that I mean over 2000 words because these days that seems to be about my limit. Not too bad really, considering that this time last year I was barely writing a word a day. Well, okay, I don't think I hit that wall for another few days.

*shrugs* I have less to write in these day summaries as time goes on.

Day Eleven Total: 32,420 words

So I'm about twice where I was at this time last year in terms of words. Interesting that.

Today was another lazy writing day. I had a goal to get to 32k and to finish what is essentially the first forty-five-ish percent of the book. I'm not doing too shabby. I think I'll still be able to work toward my goal of a 60k story (and the longest finished work I've ever written), so I'm still pleased with my progress.

Day Ten Total: 29,294 words

I didn't write that much yesterday, but about a thousand, which is good enough for me. I again suffered from a headache. These little NaNoWriMo wordcount updates are making me realise that I am prone to headaches on Mondays. Weird.

Hoping to get more done today to make up for yesterday.

Day Nine Total: 28,233 words

So, once again I wrote sporadically, but still managed about 2k so I'm pretty pleased with myself. I don't know how I keep managing to write, but it happens. *shrugs*

I will, though, blame a large portion of my wordcount in the previous couple of days on "Scissors, paper, rock"... and all I was trying to do was break a three way tie, not start a new voting revolution. Seriously, if it was up to those kids, that's the way democracy would work and Terry's mother would have to beat Mayor Cahill to win. Less skill based than a thumb war. I can just imagine them preparing by viewing footage of previous matches. Crazy.

A way to pass through the school holidays turned into yet another metaphor for democracy/a microcosm. It's all very fascinating and absolutely nothing to do with a hygenie.

I didn't type "hygenie" once in my story today. I fascinate me.
