So I started at midnight and managed to write 2000 words in the first hour. It was pretty amazing, since I was pretty sure that my limit was only about 1000 words an hour. The fact that it took less really says something about how much more I can write when I'm not letting myself get distracted by checking my wordcount or anything else.
I've told myself that I'm only allowed to check my wordcount once every hour. I find that this is helping me write more. Usually I like to see how far I've come. But if I don't check as often, I'm spurred on to writing more so that my next wordcount will look even better. But I've noticed that I am back to 1000 words an hour-ish. I think it is because I'm now letting myself get distracted. After all, I am farther along than I usually am on the first day. I think.
I think I've managed to get my little auto posting wordcount to twitter thing working, and I'll put up the instructions a little later when I'm satisfied that it works the way I think it will by testing it a little more.
I'm nearly up to 5000 words after about four hours of writing and I feel like I'm doing pretty good. I haven't read anything that I've written of course. To discover that it's not as lovely as I imagine it would be a travesty.
Anyway, I'm back to writing. I will be back tonight with my final wordcount.
