Day Eight Total: 26,396 words

After writing intermittently all day (I wrote about a thousand before lunch, then napped, then wrote again), I finally decided to use Write or Die.

I was initially freaked out by the site (y'know, for irrational reasons) and I still don't think I'll use it properly. Yes I have more words and it didn't take me long to write them because I refused to get distracted by other websites, but I don't like what I've written. And I know it's quantity over quality with NaNo, but I can afford a little quantity for quality. Especially since I know that I'll hardly change any of it.

It was a good thing, though, because I managed to bring up the subject of Terry's father's absence from his life, even though I'm sure that it's entirely in the wrong place and I'll have to move it later.

I am only going to use Write or Die as a last resort.

Also, I've discovered that the words from x400 to (x+1)000 are the hardest to write. Also, I seem to devote only the last fifteen minutes of every hour to writing and only occasionally hit my 1k per hour rough goal, even though I know I'm capable of a lot more than that in the right frame of mind.

What fascinating concept with Write or Die. I really hope the kamikaze mode doesn't actually start erasing work.
And you're right - creative writing is very different from thesis writing but the whole concept of being chained to the desk (again - but what's another month?) is unappealing.

Hope you had a good writing day today!
